What is The Pap Corps?
The Pap Corps is a volunteer charity organization that raises money for Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami. The seed money is used for breakthrough research on the causes and effective treatment for all cancers.
How Did It Get Its Name?
The Pap Corps is named for George Papanicolaou who invented the Pap Smear, the diagnostic tool used to detect cervical cancer. He was the former director of the then- Dade County Cancer Institute which merged with UM's original Comprehensive Cancer Center in 1984.

Our purpose is to raise funds for The Pap Corps and UM/Sylvester. We do this through our many fundraisers. This year’s fundraisers include a Welcome Back Happy Hour, Not My Daughter Luncheon, a Golf Tournament, Game Night, Shopping Events at Jeaneration, Yoga event as well as the annual Dolphins Cancer Challenge bike, walk, or run when the entire University of Miami/Sylvester Community comes together to raise funds for all cancers.
You may also purchase greeting cards for every occasion. The cost of the card includes a donation to The Pap Corps. The recipients know that the card includes a donation in their honor or memory making it even more meaningful. Call Mindi Selcer for more information at 954-234-8396 or Michele McMahon at 954-650-2597.
There are many other ways to get involved including volunteering on a event committee, making a donation or just attending our many fun events. How involved you choose to get is a personal decision. What we can tell you is that you will make great friends while helping out with a worthwhile cause.
